Email Protection Now Active + New File Size Limits
Today’s update includes a new layer of email protection to help reduce phishing risks, along with new file size limits to keep sites fast and easy to use.
To help combat the rise in AI-powered phishing attacks targeting WFU, we’ve deployed a new email protection layer across all WordPress sites. This plugin automatically encodes your email addresses in page content so they’re no longer visible to automated scrapers and bots that harvest them for phishing campaigns. Our partners in IS also have a collection of phishing resources to help prevent you from becoming a victim of these scams.
What this means for you:
- Email addresses on your site will continue to display and function normally for visitors. Clicking a mailto link works exactly as before.
- No action is needed from site owners or editors.
- The only visible difference is in the page source code, where email addresses now appear as encoded strings rather than plain text. This is expected behavior.
- If you notice any issues with how email addresses display or function on your site, please let us know through the Digital Request Form.
New File Size Limits
To help keep our sites fast and easy to use, we’ve placed new limits on file upload sizes, as shown below. Large files, such as high-resolution images, can slow down pages, especially for visitors on mobile devices or slower connections. You can learn how to reduce image file sizes on our Photo Editing page.
- Images: 3 MB
- PDFs: 25 MB
- Videos: 10 MB
- All other files: 10 MB
As always, feel free to reach out using the Digital Request Form if you have any questions.
