November 2025: Building a Stronger Foundation
As we close out 2025, the WordPress team has been hard at work modernizing our WordPress platform.
What We’re Doing
We’re systematically updating our custom plugins to follow modern WordPress standards and best practices. This means:
- more consistent code structure across all our plugins;
- better testing frameworks that make it easier to catch bugs before they reach you;
- improved maintainability so we can fix issues and add features faster;
- and fast onboarding because our code will look familiar to future developers.
We Haven’t Forgotten About Features
While our focus is infrastructure, we managed to squeeze in a few improvements:
- Block Accordion now supports custom class names, making it easier to style accordion titles.
- The homepage video received a significant performance boost with lazy loading, resulting in an 80-90% reduction in bandwidth usage.
Looking Ahead
This modernization project will continue into 2026. We know it’s not as exciting as rolling out new features, but it’s the kind of foundational work that ensures WordPress remains fast, stable and ready for whatever comes next.
As always, we’re here if you need us. If you have questions or encounter any issues, our Digital Request Form is always available.
